** Sell Cerner Corp.
The Wall Street Journal just published a very negative article on the accounting of Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq: CERN). The stock is trading down.
When accounting becomes an issue, it is very difficult, if not impossible to judge the financial condition of a company and its value. Yes, the company is correctly positioned in the fast-growing healthcare and in the high-margin technology/software area that serves it. And GE recently bought a similar firm in that space.
But when accounting issues that could be very serious pop up, I prefer to shoot first and ask questions later, especially when we have significant profits. The development of these issues in the future is unpredictable, sometimes being the tip of the iceberg, and can get out of control later. I have no means to verify this independently and prefer to see it from the sidelines.
Sell now at market.
